Tourist Information

France’s Dordogne Region is known as the land of beautiful valleys, woods, rivers and vineyards and is famous for its rich array of foods such as truffles, duck and walnuts. The area is a wine lover’s paradise and there are plenty of restaurants from the simple to the gastronomically sophisticated, all making the most of the superb local produce.

Within an hour’s drive there are many beautiful chateaux including Bannes, Biron, Beyac, Lanquais and Monbazillac. There are also many 13th Century Bastides in the area such as Monflanquin, Monpazier, Penne D’Agenais and Villereal. The prehistoric caves at Lascaux, Les Eyzies are within easy reach of the property.

Activities

The area is rich in sporting facilities. Tennis courts are available in a nearby village. A day on the Dordogne River in a canoe is a must for those who love the water. There are also small swimming beaches for the little ones! The swimming lake at Lanquais is ideal. Cycles can be hired locally and golf can be arranged at nearby golf clubs. Fishing is also available and there is a choice of riding stables. There is a small sailing club at Mausac that offers windsurfing and water skiing.

Equestrian

There are several equestrian centres in the vicinity. Feed can be purchased in the local town (3.4km) and a vet is 10 mins away. There is also a British farrier nearby. Outriding is directly from the property with no road work necessary.
