The property is situated in the countryside between the medieval town of Parthenay, of Knights Templar fame, and the ancient city of Poitiers

It is surrounded by quiet and tranquil countryside with many delightful walks very close to the house. There is much bird life to be seen and there are lovely woodland tracks to be explored. Two golf courses can be found close by.
The local village, 2km is a typical small market town with two restaurants and bars, a boulangerie, butcher, bank, small village supermarket and hardware store.

Parthenay, 20 kms, is situated on a rocky promontory surrounded by the River Thouet. It was once an important stopover for pilgrims en route to Santiago de la Compostela but is now famed for its beef cattle market, which takes place every Wednesday. Sheep, apples and local dairy produce are also sold here in abundance. The medieval quarter is worth a foray with the cobbled streets of rue de la Vau-St-Jacques leading up to 13th-century ramparts and La Porte et le Pont St-Jacques - a narrow bridge which joins a drawbridge with tall, twin towers

Poitiers railway Station (T.G.V. from Paris) and Airport (served by Ryanair from Birmingham and Stansted) are less than forty minutes away.

The beautiful and historic old port of La Rochelle is just over an hour and is served by Ryanair (from Stansted and Dublin), Easyjet (from Gatwick and Bristol), Flybe (from Southampton, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow) and Jet2 ( from Edinburgh and Leeds).

The Venise Verte, Futuroscope, Saumur – home to the world famous Cadre Noir, Loire valley and Cognac are all within driving distance.
